AGRA - FATEHPUR SIKRI - FEBRUARY 4

After leaving the Taj Mahal, I meet the girls, who got out earlier, at the hotel and together, we go visiting the “old” part of Agra. ..

It is very interesting to see street life, colorful houses and doors, animals, kids….

...

In the afternoon, we drive to Fathepur Sikri, 40 km away.

This town was the political capital of India’s Mughal Empire under Akbar’s reign from 1571 until 1585, when it was abandoned, due to lack of water. We only have time to visit the mosque and the Salim Chisti Tomb. It is very busy there, lots of families. There are many students or so-called “guides” offering their help and it is a bit tiresome in the end.

Then, we continue to Bharatpur, about 20 km away, where we find a room at “New Spoonbill” guesthouse,

a very friendly place. The lady who runs the place is very efficient and she is a great cook.
