SHEKHAWATI - FEBRUARY 21

We have a stroll in the city of Fatehpur, where there are numerous havelis. They are beautiful, even if somewhat rundown for some of them.....................

Then we drive to Mandawa, ....The landscape is still a mixture of fields and deserts. .......Mandawa is quite nice, with many murals .........................and havelis.... ................We visit a temple, ......then have a look inside the beautiful Mandawa Hotel, ..........the rooms are not too expensive there. We would like to stay here, but we have planned to stay overnight in Nawalgarh.

..................Then we continue to Nawalgarh, where we stay at the Shekhawati Guesthouse. It has good reviews in many guidebooks. The rooms are OK. We have a walk in the city, but it is not as nice as Mandawa. We visit the Moraka Haveli, a beautiful building. The courtyards have numerous murals ..........and portraits........ .................................................................................We have a look at the outside of the Haveli Museum, but it is too late to visit it. ......

We buy some beer for our aperitif and some sweets for dessert. We have reserved for dinner at the guesthouse. It is Ok, but not as good as in some other places. We are a bit disappointed. Even more, as the price of dinner is very high, compared to what we had up to now. We should have asked before… I don’t mind paying a higher price, but then, the food must be outstanding, which was not the case. The lady (who is very nice) says that she has a bio garden and everything is fresh. It is not exactly visible in the food, we did not feel the cooking was any better than in other restaurants. In some very simple restaurants, we had outstanding food sometimes...
