We are leaving for Jaisalmer today, situated right in the Thar desert, west of Rajasthan. Further away is the border to Pakistan, about 100 km from Jaisalmer.
Before leaving Jodhpur, we stop at the Umaid Bhawan Palace to have a look at the imposing building. But we are not allowed to enter the property, even to take a few pics from the gardens, so we stay at the gate.
The landscape is very nice, lots of sandy dunes
along the road. Many tiny villages, that look like African villages, with huts.
It is around noon when we arrive in Jaisalmer, it was good driving, the road being a long straightforward stretch in the last part.
We stay in Hotel Renuka, right near the main square, outside the fort walls.
The rooms are quite plain and very small, but for the price… There is a nice roof terrace for breakfast. We start a nice walk to get to know the city, the yellow city,
as most buildings
are made of sandstone..

The huge fort walls protect the inner city.
