BUNDI - FEBRUARY 10

We leave Pushkar rather early, as it takes about 5 hours to get to Bundi (240 km).

The landscape is very nice, lots of green fields alongside the road..... .....Still many colorful trucks and some are overloaded.......Cows on the road..We stop mid-way for coffee/tea and at about 12.30, we arrive in Bundi. The view is very nice, the city is nestled at the foot of a mountain, with the fort and palace overlooking the blue city. Many houses are painted in blue, hence the predominant blue colour....

It is Jocelyne’s birthday and she wants to treat us to a posh hotel. So we choose Kasera Paradise, one of the best hotels in Bundi. It is below the palace and from the roof terrace, the view is fantastic. The rooms are big and nicely decorated, with huge bathrooms. It is a big change from our filthy hotel in Pushkar.

We start walking around the city and we simply love it. It is beautiful and very friendly. Many murals and beautiful colourful houses. Our eyes jut can’t get enough. There is a nice food market and the good thing is also that it starts being warm, at last!

We then here lots of noise and music, there is a wedding precession going on. The bridegroom is very handsome. We stop to watch them passing and soon, we start to follow the procession. We can even dance in the middle of the other people. We are invited to the festivities afterwards, we stay for a while, but then, we have to go, as we told Jassi to meet us at the restaurant at 8 pm. Jocelyne invites all of us for dinner tonight, her birthday. As a present, we give her a voucher for a clay jug of her choice…. She is mad about clay jugs…. And there are so many in India…. She wants to bring one back home.
